My Work

Girls with Fake Names
It's 1927 and Prohibition is going strong in the United States. Bootleggers in Canadian border cities are becoming rich in supplying what Americans can't get at home. In Vancouver, Jane Weatherall's father is a top boss in the trade. It's a world Jane wants to escape. As she turns twenty-three, Jane makes a choice—marry or join the family business.
She chooses neither and boards a train to take her to Canadian ports and eventually to Paris. Along the way, she meets a burlesque dancer named Ruby, who captivates Jane with her beauty and charm. The pair end up in Montreal, where Jane experiences a whirlwind of smoky clubs, fast money, and dangerous secrets.
What began as an adventure spirals into a cross-country gang war, and Jane finds herself trapped in the very world she tried to escape.
She must make an impossible choice: protect the family she fled, or the woman she loves.
